In recent years, Subway has become a "default" lunchtime meal for many Sydneysiders. With an array of delicious fillings and an ample selection of breads and sauces, what's not to like?
At most Subway stores, there is a selection of $7 Foot Long subs (see them here). Share one with a friend or colleague, and that amounts to a nice, stingy $3.50 each!

Gone are the days when the average driver would whip out a heavy street directory from the glove-box when searching for a new route. Navigation/GPS solutions like TomTom have very much become mainstream, but often still require the buyer to part with a fair few dollars.
If you own an iPhone though, you're in luck.
Do you remember the days before the popularity of the jugglenaut that is Google Maps? Which was the one popular website that many Australians went to for travel directions? That's right, whereis.com. They have now released a free turn-by-turn navigation app for iOS, and it is excellent. Here is a brief description from the Apple iTunes website:
Whereis® is a FREE app providing voice guided, turn-by-turn navigation to take you to your destination. The app also helps you find addresses, businesses and places of interest in Australia. You can call the business, get directions and let the free navigation feature take you right there.
Features include:
- Locate yourself on the map or search for addresses, places & businesses from Yellow Pages® all from the one search box.
- Use the quick search panel to drop points of interest on your map such as petrol stations, ATMs, restaurants, car parks, etc.
- Get directions by driving (with or without toll roads option) or walking and we’ll give you the best route.
- Voice guided, turn-by-turn navigation tells you where and when to make a turn using the latest & most up-to-date map data from Whereis®. It will also automatically re-route you if you take a wrong turn.
- Multi-tasking so that you can play music while you're navigating.

Many people don't realise that they could be getting cashback on their daily motorway travels.
Althrough tolls on the M4 Motorway ended early last year, the cashback scheme continues to operate for users of the M5 South West Motorway.
"The NSW Government introduced the M4/M5 Cashback Scheme on 1 January 1997. Cashback allows NSW residents to claim back the value of tolls (excluding GST) paid while using privately registered vehicles on the M4 (for tolls paid before 16 February 2010) and M5 motorways." - RTA Website
